Redwood City
Redwood City is approximately 27 miles south of San Francisco and 24 miles northwest of San Jose. With a population of 84,292 according to the 2020 U.S. Census, it is home to several global technology companies, including Oracle, Electronic Arts, Evernote, Box and Informatica.
Incorporated in 1867, Redwood City has been the county seat since that time.
Like most of the Bay Area, Redwood City enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate with cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers. The city’s slogan can be seen on it’s famous sign arching over Broadway at the entrance to downtown — “Climate Best by Government Test” — based on a climate survey conducted by the U.S. and German governments prior to World War I.
Bair Island Ecological Preserve, Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge, and Edgewood County Park are popular parks.
